Wooden Bed
Know exactly which wood you are buying. We make a wooden bed in Bangalore in teak or sheesham, naming the wood and the finish separately, in our HSR Layout workshop. Built around your mattress and room, with a frame planned to stay silent, in 4–6 weeks from design approval.
Made to order — no fixed price or stock. Every wooden bed is built around your space, materials and finish once we talk through your project.
Most people choose a wooden bed by its colour. The wood underneath, and how it is seasoned and joined, decides whether the frame stays silent for years or starts to creak.
It also pays to read the label carefully. Many beds sold with a “teak finish” are another wood stained to a teak colour, with sheesham a common example. Teak is a species and a teak finish is only a stain, so we always tell you both: which wood your bed is made from, and which finish is on it. We build in teak and sheesham, and the finish is chosen separately.
Teak or sheesham: how to choose
- Teak: Naturally oil-rich and stable, with a warm golden-brown tone that deepens with age.
- Sheesham: Dense, with a pronounced grain pattern, and it takes a range of stains from honey to deep walnut.
- Not sure which grain you prefer? Our guide to sheesham vs acacia wood explains how the woods differ.
Wooden beds we build
- Low platform bed: Clean-lined and close to the floor, to let a small room breathe. A bed without storage is the simplest form of this.
- Panelled headboard bed: A panelled wooden headboard that frames the bed and gives it a traditional look.
- Slatted headboard bed: A lighter, open headboard in wood, with a modern feel.
- Wooden bed with upholstered headboard: A wooden frame with a padded headboard in your fabric, for a softer look.
- Wooden bed with bedside tables: Matching or floating tables designed together with the bed.
Every frame is made from seasoned hardwood, with slats and joints planned so it stays silent. Because the bed is built to your room, you can also set the height for comfortable getting in and out.
Whether you need a single, a double, or a queen or king bed for the main bedroom, the frame is built to your mattress, including odd and extra-thick sizes, or to fully bespoke dimensions. Care is simple: wooden surfaces need only dry dusting.
If you also want hidden storage, see our custom storage bed. For other styles, explore our custom beds in Bangalore, or read solid wood vs engineered wood to understand what you are paying for. Then send us your mattress size and wood preference on WhatsApp.
- Talk through the room: A free first consultation, then we measure your room and mattress. Tell us the wood tone you have in mind.
- See the design and the wood: You receive drawings (and 3D views where they help), with wood, finish and headboard samples shown in your own home’s light, so you choose teak or sheesham by seeing it.
- We build and check: Made in-house, typically 4–6 weeks from design approval, with progress photos at key stages and a full inspection before the bed leaves the workshop.
- Delivered and fitted: Our own team delivers, installs and levels the bed and walks you through care.
1. Should I choose teak or sheesham for my bed?
Teak has a warm golden-brown tone and stable grain, while sheesham has a stronger grain pattern and takes a wider range of stains. The choice is mostly about the look you want and your budget. Tell us your room’s colours and we will recommend one.
2. What is the difference between a teak wood bed and a teak finish?
Teak wood means the bed is made from the teak species. A teak finish is only a colour applied to a frame, often on another wood such as sheesham. We always state the wood and the finish separately, so you know exactly what you are buying.
3. Can you make a wooden bed to my mattress size, including queen, king or 5x6?
Yes. We build the frame around your exact mattress, whether you call it queen, king or 5x6. Send the mattress size and thickness on WhatsApp and we will confirm the headboard and height that suit your room.
4. Can I get a wooden bed without storage, or add storage later?
Yes, a plain platform bed without storage is the simplest build. Storage has to be designed in from the start, because the base is built differently. If you think you may want it, see our custom storage bed before you decide.
5. Will a wooden bed creak?
A well-made frame should not. We use seasoned hardwood and plan the slats and joints so the bed stays silent. Wood does move with the seasons, so tell us if the bed will sit near a window or an air conditioner.
6. How do I look after a wooden bed?
Dry dusting is enough for wooden surfaces. Avoid wet cloths and keep the frame away from standing moisture, and check the frame fixings once a year.
7. How long does a custom wooden bed take?
Typically 4–6 weeks from design approval. The exact schedule depends on the wood, size and finish, so send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will confirm the timeline for your design.
8. How much does a custom wooden bed cost?
The cost depends on the wood, size, headboard and finish, so we quote each bed after seeing your mattress size and room. Share your measurements on WhatsApp for an estimate. Warranty and payment details are shared at consultation.
