Custom chairs

We make chairs to order (accent chairs, dining chairs, desk chairs and rockers) shaped to your body and your room. Seat height, back angle, upholstery and wood finish are all decided with you, which matters most in chairs: a few centimetres of seat height or lumbar position changes everything about comfort.

Typical lead time
3–5 weeks from design approval
Construction
Mortise-and-tenon hardwood joinery
Options
Upholstered, caned, or solid wood seats

Made your way

What you can customize in your chairs

  • Seat height & depth

Tuned to your height and your table or desk, not an average.

  • Back support

Back angle and lumbar shaping decided at the design stage.

  • Upholstery

Fabric, leather or cane; fixed or removable seat pads.

  • Wood & finish

Teak, oak, ash or walnut tones matched to your existing pieces.

  • Details

Piping, stitching, tapered or turned legs, brass glides.

Materials

Materials we work with

  • Solid hardwoods

Chairs take the most stress of any furniture, so we only use solid wood joinery.

  • Natural cane

Hand-woven cane panels for breathable, light-looking seats and backs.

  • Upholstery foams

Firmer, thinner profiles engineered for dining and desk seating.

Care

Check and gently tighten visible fixings once a year. Keep cane away from sustained damp; dust wood with a dry cloth and refresh the finish every few years depending on use.

Case study

Eight chairs, one heirloom table

Client requirement
A client had inherited a teak dining table and wanted eight chairs that belonged with it, without pretending to be antiques.
Design direction
We drew a simple contemporary frame in matching teak, echoing the table’s edge profile in the crest rail, with woven cane backs and linen seat pads.
Final result
The set reads as one family: the table keeps its history and the chairs quietly update it. Seat height was tuned to the table’s slightly low apron.

FAQ

Chairs, answered

Can you match furniture to my existing interiors?

Yes. We regularly match wood tones, fabrics and detailing to existing furniture and architectural elements. Bring photos or a small sample and we will develop the finish from there.

Do you work from reference images?

Yes. Reference photos, sketches or Pinterest boards are a great starting point. We adapt the idea to your space, correct proportions and recommend materials, so the final piece is designed for your room rather than copied from a photo.

How long does a custom furniture piece take to make?

Most pieces take four to eight weeks from design approval to delivery, depending on complexity, materials and finish. Larger wardrobes and full-room projects can take longer. We confirm a realistic timeline before any work begins.
