Storage Bed
A bed with storage in Bangalore, made to order in our HSR Layout workshop around your mattress and your room. Choose a hydraulic lift-up base or drawers, then the size, headboard, and finish. Typically ready in 4–6 weeks from design approval.
Made to order — no fixed price or stock. Every storage bed is built around your space, materials and finish once we talk through your project.
A storage bed only earns its place if you can get to what is inside it. In many Bengaluru bedrooms, the bed, the wardrobe doors, and the walkway share the same few feet, so a bed built to a catalogue size can end up with a lid that stops against the wall, or drawers that jam against the bedside table.
That is why we build each storage bed to the room, not to a range. Homeowners, interior designers, and architects send us the mattress size and floor plan, and before we cut anything, we work out which opening will genuinely work. We design and make every bed in-house at our HSR Layout workshop, with no reseller in between.
For a Bengaluru apartment, that matters because the clearance around the bed decides whether the storage gets used every week or never opened at all. A base planned around your room keeps the opening, the walkway, and the wardrobe doors from fighting each other.
Which option suits which room
- Master bedroom: If you store bulky bedding, a lift-up base gives one deep space; once we have checked the clearance, it needs to open fully.
- Guest room or child’s room: Side space is usually the limit here, so drawers or an open platform often work better than a lift-up.
- Compact flat: A recessed plinth with a lift-up base keeps the bed visually light while still holding a wardrobe’s worth of storage.
From a single bed with storage for a guest room to a double bed with storage, a queen-size bed with storage or a king bed with storage for the main bedroom, the base is built to your mattress. That includes odd and extra-thick mattresses, and whatever name you use for your size; just send us the mattress dimensions, and we build to those.
Headboards can be upholstered, panelled or slatted, or left out altogether, with optional integrated lighting and floating ledges for a phone or a lamp.
In one compact flat, a couple wanted maximum storage without a bulky box bed filling the room. We raised the bed on a recessed plinth, so it appears to float, used a full lift-up base, and kept the headboard slim with two floating ledges. They gained the storage of a full wardrobe, and the shadow line under the bed keeps the room feeling open.
Not sure whether a lift-up or drawers suit your room? Compare them in our guide to the hydraulic bed vs. box storage bed. Looking for another style? Explore our custom beds in Bangalore. Then send your mattress size and room measurements on WhatsApp, and we will suggest the opening that fits.
- Hydraulic lift-up base: The whole base lifts to reveal one deep compartment, suited to quilts, blankets, and seasonal clothes. It needs clear space around it to open fully, which we check before we choose it.
- Side drawers: Drawers slide out for everyday items you reach for often. Each needs clear floor space in front of it, so we measure your side space first.
- Open platform: A clean, low base with no enclosed storage, for a lighter look in a small room, paired with bedside tables or headboard ledges. Prefer a plain wooden frame? See our wooden beds.
- Box-style compartment: A compartment under a lift-up lid, a simpler alternative to a hydraulic mechanism for items you reach for less often.
- Headboard ledges: Slim floating ledges built into the headboard for a phone, a lamp, or a book.
- Matching bedside tables: Designed together with the bed, either matching or floating, so everything lines up.
- Send us the room: Share the mattress size and thickness, wall-to-wall width, and where the doors and wardrobes sit on WhatsApp.
- We choose the opening: We suggest a lift-up base, drawers, or an open platform, with headboard and finish options for you to review.
- You approve, we build: The bed is made in-house, typically 4–6 weeks from design approval. See how custom furniture is made.
- Delivery and fitting: We deliver and set up the bed in your room
1. Should I choose a hydraulic storage bed or a storage bed with drawers?
A hydraulic lift-up gives one deep space for quilts and bulky bedding, while drawers make everyday items easier to reach but need clear floor space in front of them. The better choice depends on your room and what you store. Our guide to the hydraulic bed vs box storage bed compares them in detail.
2. What is the difference between a box bed with storage and a hydraulic bed?
A box bed has a lid or panel you lift by hand to reach the compartment underneath, while a hydraulic bed raises the base with a lift mechanism that takes the effort out. Hydraulic suits frequent access, and a simple box suits occasional storage. Tell us how often you will open it, and we will recommend one.
3. Can you make a queen, king, or 5x6 size with storage?
Yes. We build the base around your exact mattress, whether you call the size queen, king, or 5x6. Send the mattress size and thickness on WhatsApp, and we confirm the storage type and headboard that fit your room before we start building.
4. Do you make a small bed with storage for a compact room?
Yes. We build compact beds with drawers or a lift-up base for guest rooms, children’s rooms, and small flats, sized to your room and mattress. Side space usually decides whether drawers or a lift-up will work, so we measure it first. Our small bedroom furniture strategies guide has more ideas.
5. How much clearance does a bed with storage underneath need?
A lift-up base needs enough free space around the opening to rise fully, and drawers need clear floor space in front of them. The exact amount depends on the design, so we check your measurements before choosing the mechanism. Send the room size and the positions of doors and wardrobes on WhatsApp.
6. Will the lift feel heavy with a thick or heavy mattress?
We specify the lift mechanism for the mattress it will carry, so tell us your mattress type and thickness when you enquire. Extra-thick and heavier mattresses change the setup, which is why we ask before building, and we confirm the lift in the design you approve.
7. How long does a custom bed take?
Typically 4–6 weeks from design approval. The exact schedule depends on the size, storage type, and finish, so send your measurements on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the timeline for your design. Design approval comes first, because the build starts only after the measurements and finish are agreed.
8. How much does a custom storage bed cost, and what decides the price?
The cost depends on size, wood, storage type, headboard, and finish, so we quote each bed after seeing your mattress size and room. A custom bed is priced to its design, not from a fixed list. Share your measurements on WhatsApp for an estimate. Warranty and payment details are shared at consultation.
